Meeting Minutes for September 12, 2000 
 Board of Directors Meeting

Persons attending Glen Shirley, President, Michael Max, Mark Stennes Ken Holman, Janet Larson, Dwight Robinson, Robert Slater and Kirk Brown

Meeting called to order at 3:09 p.m. by President Glen Shirley

Approve Minutes of 11 July: Robinson / Max / Passed

Glen Shirley updated the board on the progress of the strategic plan. Portions of the plan targeted toward a specific committee are being forwarded to that committee for comment. Glen expects to have committee feedback prior to the October meeting.

The board discussed the plan with the understanding that the results of the discussion would be shared with the Strategic Planning committee.

Committee Chairs will be invited to the October Board meeting to present their perspective on the plan.

The Board will review, discuss and vote on the plan at the October meeting.

Ken Holman passed out a brochure on the NE MnSTAC "2000 Community Forest Workshop" that will be held at the Cloquet Forestry Center 11 October. He also mentioned that SE MnSTAC is sponsoring a "City Trees the Right Way" workshop on 17 October. The SE workshop is free.

Legislative Liaisons are scheduled for the September MnSTAC meeting. Ken Holman sought suggestions and guidance from the Board to help them prepare for the meeting.

Michael Max alerted the Board to the fact that many members of the regional STACs are not officially members of MnSTAC. He will bring a listing of all the regional STAC members to the September meeting. MnSTAC can then vote them into membership.

There was also some discussion on expanding the membership category for members to members and advocates. The members would be active participants with specific attendance requirements. Advocates would be included on the mailing list and be kept informed of urban and community forestry issues.
