Meeting called to order at 3:04 p.m. by President Glen Shirley

Ken Holman announced that Gerald Rose and S. Olin Phillips will be hosting a luncheon for members of MnSTAC’s Executive Board to discuss DNR’s support and their relationship to MnSTAC. The luncheon is tentatively scheduled for early June. There was a discussion about inviting a limited number of other MnSTAC members, the goal is to have a reasonable sized group with meaningful discussion.

There was a discussion on the status of the two oak wilt positions in the MNDA. It was the Boards understanding that there are two full time positions directed toward oak wilt control, a plant health specialist and an information officer. The status of these two positions warrants further research and discussion.

Mike Max discussed the option of MnSTAC becoming a not for profit organization. There was discussion about how non profit status would affect existing references by the state, relationship with the DNR, reporting and auditing requirements and our relationship with the legislature. Mike agreed to find out what other state councils were doing and how they were handing these issues.
